We change lives. We match young people facing adversity with trained adult mentors in 1-1 or group mentoring programs. Mentoring is an essential way to give youth experience and support through back-and-forth relationships. Over time, these positive developmental relationships lead to young people better able to deal with and overcome life’s adversities; youth are empowered to be change-makers and work for a better world.
The goal of this project is to inspire people of all ages that real and profound change is sometimes experienced in very slow but significant moments across time. While facing discouraging systems of inequity, and critical shortages of resources and essential needs, depression rates increase. For some young folks, thinking about a better future is really difficult. But change is real, and happens every day. Through meaningful acts, there is a possibility for things to get better. Please help us grow this project. You may not have the time to commit to a relationship, but through your letter, you can help us showcase words of hope.
We are part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters in Canada federation: a broad network of professional staff supporting mentors and volunteers; systems for selecting, approving and supporting volunteers; referring families to agencies that provide other services if required for the mentee and their family.
